When you think of Disney World, you probably think of the princesses, kiddie overload, and how on earth as an adult you can find alcohol to survive. *hint, Epcot…
Continuing with my series on “How I do Disney World“, I thought rather than explain the obvious attractions at Disney World, like the famous Tea Cup ride, I’d tell you about some of the features I personally like.
Personal Favorite #1: The Main Street USA dancing
I always tease my husband every time we enter into Magic Kingdom and head down Main Street USA. For some reason, the dancers always kick in right when we are there. He’s an Iraq war veteran so he must love a good musical, right? (hee hee) The Main Street USA dancing is always fun to me and they remind me of the musical “Hello Dolly” with Babs. I was obsessed with that musical when I was in Junior High. I have no idea why; maybe because I love the historical 1800s to early 1900s. Main Street USA is also an area where you will catch up with Mary Poppins if you are lucky and find a neat bicycling sign with some vintage-velo appeal. Just visualize women with parasols now.
Main Street USA dancers are always ready for us

Personal Favorite #2: Thunder Mountain
There is so much to like in Magic Kingdom, but I have to say, Thunder Mountain is a great coaster. You can ride it with your 5-6 year old and still have an adult thrill from it. Perfect for those of us who haven’t “coastered” in a while and need a slightly milder ride back into these sort of thrills.
Personal Favorite #3: Flights of Wonder
My husband’s favorite Disney World park is actually Animal Kingdom. I might have to agree with him, even though I am pretty partial to Magic Kingdom for all it’s classic Americana Disney. Animal Kingdom is basically the zoo; however, it isn’t meant to be just a zoo. We probably spent the most hours in any one day of all the parks at Animal Kingdom. My favorite feature is the wild bird show “Flights of Wonder“. I’m sure it doesn’t make everyone’s favorites list, but I really love it. Wild birds you would never have thought tamed and trained participate in this phenomenal show. I was blown away! It isn’t just hawks, we’re talking trained a American Bald Eagle among the line up. Blown away I tell you!
Personal Favorite #4: The United Kingdom Pavilion in Epcot
One of my favorite things to do at Disney World is enjoy the landscaping. And, one of my favorite little areas to do this in is at the United Kingdom Pavilion in Epcot. They’ve created little English garden replicas – who doesn’t love a hedge row?
Alice hangs out in the United Kingdom Pavilion if you are hoping to catch her!

Personal Favorite #5: The Germany Pavilion in Epcot
The German in me must love it, right? Of course nothing compares to the real deal. Everything is touristy German like Lederhosen, beer, and pretzels. It’s like you are walking in a Kaethe Wohlfahrt store. However, it is still fun and I love how magical they made Germany. Not trying to be biased, but I get the distinct impression it is also one of the favorite Pavilions in Epcot for many visitors. The Bavarian in me appreciates that the majority flavor of the Germany Pavilion is in Bavarian style and all the workers there are brought in from Germany. Nothing but the best, gäi?
(I’ll continue my Disney World series in another post soon!)
