Disney World 2012 and the Blizzard

Phew! We finally made it back home from one of our repeat trips to Disney World. The Blizzard of the year through Indiana kept us stranded in the Orlando airport for over 12 hours and we were fairly miserable all day yesterday. I was having visions of the movie “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” and that was not a good thing. Fortunately the airlines were able to get flights going about 12 hours after the storm set in. I have a lot to get caught up on but first and foremost, I ran a “vacation recovery” 3 mile treadmill run this morning STAT. The run went very well, despite having had 9 days off from running. I had never planned to have that long off from running, but with a nasty cold that set in and then several days at Disney World, somehow I understood I needed to give my body a rest from running. I do have to say, as usual, all of the walking for 8+ hours each day at Disney World kept me in shape. This morning’s run was pretty easy. Don’t ever underestimate a good long walk – it does more for your body than it may seem to.

I need to get caught up now with the running world again!

Disney World 2012
(I spent most of my time in my Brooks Pure Grit shoes, fantastic for 8 hours of walking and being on your feet.)

Disney World Hollywood Studios
(We finally made it to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the one park we hadn’t been to yet.)

How has your holiday week been going? Are you able to keep up with your runs?

Thank you! And yea, I have that constant fear of getting “stuck”. I was really worried we wouldn’t get out and have to sleep there … with a young child. Wasn’t sure how that would play out, but fortunately they started getting the flights out after the storm passed :)
